UnLtd India is delighted to announce that for the first time ever we are taking part in the Mumbai Marathon and are offering you the chance to run for social change! Every year the Mumbai Marathon attracts thousands of people on the day ranging from runners, spectators, celebrities and press. Started in 2004, this marathon has grown to become one of India’s largest sporting events and we are giving you the opportunity to get involved!
Sunday 15th January 2012, South Mumbai
You have three options if you’d like to take part in the Mumbai Marathon:
Dream Run (registration is Rs 4,000) 6km – runners need to be over 12 years of age
Half marathon (registration is Rs 5,000) 21.097km – runners need to be over 18 years of age
Full marathon (registration is Rs 5,000) 42.195km – runners need to be over 18 years of age
* All registration fees come to UnLtd India
So how do you take part?
There are a variety of ways to secure a place and put your running shoes on to support UnLtd India.
Are you an individual? If you are passionate about supporting UnLtd India and want to run as an individual then we’d love to hear from you. We have 15 places up for grabs and are looking for motivated, enthusiastic people to run for us. One bib costs Rs 5,000 and there is a short application form you will need to fill out. Once you’re place is secured we will provide you with on-going support with your training and fundraising and together we can achieve a great result for you on the day and your fundraising for UnLtd India. If you are interested in buying a place please do contact us as we’d love to talk more with you and help you with your application. Registrations close on 20th October 2011.
Are you a corporate? If you are a corporate team looking to run together then you can enter as a team for the Corporate Challenge. Teams can consist of 15 or 25 runners and registration fees are as follows:
- Team of 15 – Rs 2,50,000 (Rs 25,000 in registration fees will go to United Way Mumbai and UnLtd India will receive Rs 2 lakhs in funds)
- Team of 25 – Rs 3,50,000 (Rs 35,000 will go to United Way Mumbai and UnLtd India will receive Rs 3 lakhs)
This is a great chance for team building and PR opportunities at the same time as raising money for a good cause. Registrations for Corporates close on 30th September 2011.
The Dream categories
: Additional to the 15 allocated places for individuals and the corporate challenge teams, you can also run in any of the following Dream categories. Dream category individuals are offered a host of privileges like special pledge kits, invite to the marquee event, VIP parking passes, personalized bibs with name, media coverage, acknowledgement in the charity docket, official event kitting, name and profile featured on official event website, photograph in post event advert for Dream Champions etc. United Way Mumbai create customised online donation pages for the Dream category individual and link it to UnLtd India’s page to facilitate easy online donations.
- Dream Maker: An individual committing to raise a minimum of Rs 1 lakh up to Rs 5 lakhs in pledges. Registration fee for this category is Rs 10,000.
- Dream Wizard: An individual committing to raise more than Rs 5 lakhs in pledges. Registration fee for this category is Rs 25,000.
- Dream Champion: An individual committing to raise more than Rs 10 lakhs in pledges. Registration fee for this category is Rs 50,000.

How do you Fundraise? You can create your own online giving page at www.unitedwaymumbai.org and direct your friends, family and supporters to the page where they can donate to support you and UnLtd India. Simply register as a new user by filling in the required details. United Way Mumbai will provide you with a link that you can send to your friends and family. Once you are signed up as a runner we will provide you with lots of fundraising tips and information and be there to support you every step of the way until the big day.
