Aarti wants to provide training and access to employment opportunities to girls and women living in slum communities across Mumbai. Her aim is to develop an ideal model and provide employment to 300+ girls and women over the next three years. Aarti has been seeing the girls in her community drop out of school, including herself, and getting trapped in the poverty cycle. She has been working with 23 girls in her slum area through her initiative called SAKHI that organises capacity building activities. She is supported by Ashoka’s Youth Venture and is also pursuing her education at Open University.
