By linking low income rural producers to India's thriving urban markets, Village Store creates jobs where they are most needed. Most village artisans do not understand the preferences of the urban population which represent 70% of their market. By training producers to understand and make goods that are desired by urbanites, the Village Store team are helping them to make goods that will sell. Village Store Dot Com will connect rural producers to urban retail outlets and online shopping portals, as well as sourcing and executing bulk orders. They also aim to raise awareness amongst consumers about environmentally-friendly rural products.
