Equal Community Foundation (ECF) aims to reduce violence and discrimination against women by engaging men by training and developing mentors who can serve as role models to successive generations of men. The initial pilot project resulted in 40 women Bibwewadi district experience reduced violence and/or discrimination.

William has 7 years of strategy consulting and business administration experience. Rujuta previously worked as a journalist and comes with 5 years of experience in journalism, NGO programme coordination and fundraising. After visiting some of the slums in Mumbai in 2007, William was struck by the prevalence of gender discrimination despite the many women empowerment programs in place. After repeatedly witnessing the power of film in India to capture the imagination of men, William began testing potential solutions with professionals and community members and concluded that popular entertainment could form the basis of successful interventions with men.
